DIY Forever Foliage Felt Plant
I’ve found a solution for all those plants you just can’t keep alive, no matter how hard you try. In this DIY project, learn how to make your very own indoor plant sculpture, made entirely from felt! I used an old hanging planter pot for this project, but you can use any container you’d like. You can also decorate the leaves to match your favourite hanging plant!
You Will Need
- An old planter pot
- Assorted green felt
- Brown felt
- A long strip of cardboard
- Cardboard leaf shapes in varying sizes
- A circle of cardboard with a hole in the middle that fits snugly in the pot
- Gardening wire
- A hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Pencil
- A green marker
- Wire cutters
Instructions
Step 1
Use the cardboard leaf shapes as templates to trace and cut a variety of different sized leaves from felt.
Step 2
Add some texture to the leaves with the green marker.
Step 3
Use the cardboard circle to trace and cut a circle from the brown felt. Use hot glue to stick these together.
Step 4
Poke a hole through the brown felt, aligned with the hole in the cardboard circle.
Step 5
Fold and glue the long strip of cardboard into a triangular tube that fits inside the pot. Use hot glue to stick this in.
Step 6
Use hot glue to stick the circle down onto the top of the triangular tube.
Step 7
Use the wire cutters to cut 5-7 long pieces of gardening wire.
Step 8
To create stems, glue the leaves at different angles along each piece of wire, leaving about 10cm wire at the ends.
Step 9
Insert the stems into the hole in the cardboard circle, then shape and style your plant to finish.
